Window/ window dressing

First up from Hand we have a beautiful warm apartment in Lyon. I love the lighting, the textures and the hidden black bookshelves.

A villa in Tassin – again love the textures and lighting  – especially the yellow chandlier and the yellow trim on the rug below!! Plus the more I see black window frames the more I want!

And finally another beautiful apartment in Lyon. I love the black framed glass partition between the kitchen and living area.

I know Gary Spain’s beautiful interiors have already done the rounds but I just can’t stop drooling over them. I love the stripes,  the vibrant pops of colours,  the textiles, the art, the retro wallpaper and the way he mixes styles with absolute ease!

Just lovely pics of dark doors and more from Canadian House & Home.

and the more bit

Sorry for the delay but here are the pictures of the lovely Paris apartment we rented for five glorious days. The apartment is located in District 15 near the Convention metro station and is just a 20 minute walk from the Eiffel Tower. The apartment sleeps six with two double rooms and one twin. If you want the contact details of the owner just drop me an email. For some reason I forgot to take a picture of the kitchen but trust me it is lovely and has everything you need.

When Abbey needed some fun and quirky curtains for her bedroom she decided to design the pattern herself. Easy!

She purchased some white fabric and a yellow fabric marker.

Now this is just a sneak peak as Abbey is still working on it but I think you will agree it looks great so far.

Today I have fallen in love with Schumacher Fabrics all over again and found a new blog. Whilst innocently browsing the web I came across this most wonderful blog, Little Green Notebook run by the very talented interior designer Jenny Komenda.  You have to check out her daugther’s bedroom makeover. She recovered the headboards in super cool Schumacher’s Chiang Mai Dragon, painted the side table, turned an old mirror into a funky hot pink framed chalkboard, created art for the walls, repainted an old lamp, revamped white bed linen, revamped a mirror, constructed pelmet boxes for the three windows and the list goes on …… Amazing and all doable!!!

and if that ain’t enough Jenny has just completed her office makeover.

final

After I stopped drooling over all the colours I searched the web for some Schumacher fabric and just purchased a metre and half of Hot House Flowers! Yippee.

And do check out Lorna’s blog while you’re there – she mixes great interior design tips with tales of living on a working farm with her lovely husband and two children.

Josef Frank popped up on two blogs this week (Anh-Minh and Remodelista) as well as making an appearance in the movie Mamma Mia. Not that I would ever watch such a movie…. well maybe I did watch it but I was stuck on a plane for 24 hours and had run out of things to watch that wouldn’t hurt my brain. I know, I am just as shocked as you are. Anyway his textiles are amazing and are perfect for that spring feeling. The fabric is a little expensive but you could just get enough to make a couple of cushions if you really want it.

here is a pic from Remodelista. This  shower curtain is absolutely stunning and gives the bathroom such a fresh feeling.

And a pic from Anh – Minh. The same fabric has been used for Roman blinds in this living room – oh I feel so revitalised and healthy just looking at this room. Its like eating a big granny smith apple on a sunny afternoon.

Or Anthropologie is a pretty close second if Josef Frank is out of the question. Check out their Flowering Quince bedding.

Frosted window film has come a long way in recent years and can even be customised to your own design if you so wish. Window film is an easy solution for maintaining some privacy without blocking out all the natural light. Perfect for those of you lucky enough to have windows in your bathroom. Here are some samples from Brume.
