DIY projects/ before and after

I can’t wait for the day when we have a house with yard so we can build a little retreat like the one below. Somehow after doing our taxes this week I think this might be our house! Maybe we could build four of them in a row – one for the bedroom, one for the living area, one for the kitchen and one for the bathroom.

Full building instructions here.

I really really love the look of linen on beds but this bedhead has taken it to a new level. And it was a DIY! It is on the list.

Pics are from Lily.

Why o why did I not think of this! It is so simple yet so brilliant all at the same time. I friggin hate all the equipment and wires we have in our apartment. Even when things are wireless they come with just as many wires as the non wireless equipment! So I love this simple idea to hide the router.

Thanks for sharing Ana Marie and tell Joe he is a genius!

From memory I am not a good knitter but I just love the idea of knitting my own Hudson Bay blanket. Maybe I might email this tutorial to my mum and suggest it would be the perfect way to spend time on her long haul flight at the end of this month. 🙂 Do they allow you to travel with knitting needles in your onboard luggage???

Anyway back to the tutorial. Click here for the full details.

I love a good DIY especially when its easy and doesn’t require power tools.

This DIY is so easy. All you need is some fabric paint, a spare tea towel and ear buds! I think I will have to try this on the weekend.

I am attempting to make a couple of small gifts for my little nieces and nephew for christmas. A lot harder than you think.

Anyway I have managed to complete one present so far. Looks like someone might be rushing to the shops before next week.

I decided to do some printing on paper today and I really like how they turned out.

Maybe they might make perfect christmas cards for our overseas family and friends.

The pink palace, aka our apartment, only has a built-in robe in the second bedroom which is fine for now but if a visitor was to stay I think the rolling rack below would come in handy. Also I like the idea of using the rolling rack to display your good outfits and favourite shoes.

TIP: insert a broom stick or dowel through the top pipe so you can hang heavy items without bending the pipe.

Thanks for Heather for this DIY project!
