Rug love: Matthew Williamson

16 10 2009

I love this Peacock rug Matthew Williamson designed for The Rug Company’s Designer Collection.  Matthew is not a bad fashion designer either which is where you usually find his creations.

29 05 2009

Here is a view I don’t see very often from my office window. Blue Skies!!!!!!! Oh it is way too sunny to be inside.

But I would much rather be here – in Stephens Green in town.

Our new bathroom

28 05 2009

We were delighted when our landlord decided to renovate the bathroom, especially since my family will be here next week! Now I wasn’t on hand to ‘direct’ the design when it came to the tiles but I was pretty happy they went with white tiles for the wall and grey tiles for the floor. Plus we now have a glass screen so no more clingy shower curtains! Here is how it looks at the moment after some finishing touches by moi. (You can click here to see what it looked like before the makeover).

Interior love

18 03 2009

A friend just sent me a link to this house and I fell instantly in love with the interior. Oh and the house is lovely too. Here is what I love about this house and the interior design. I love the subway tiles in the bathroom and the bathroom has a window (I really want a bathroom with a window – not too much to ask for is it?). I love the walled garden. I love their furniture and lighting – the owners are in the movie biz and their furniture is a collection of movie props!. I love the dining room – loads of natural light and they have a dining room (I really want a dining room separate from the living room). I love the paint colour on the walls in the main bedroom, the fireplace, the light wooden floors and the french doors! They tell you to ignore the decor when buying a house because its the easiest thing to change but seriously their decor is too beautiful to ignore or change! Its a little over my budget but definitely worth filing for future inspiration.

Oh and I really want that jewellery stand too. I believe its from Ikea and I would almost travel all the way to Belfast just to pick one up!

The Rug Seller challenge

27 11 2008

I challenge you not to find at least four rugs you want from The Rug Seller’s online shop. They have so many rugs its ridiculous but also very fabulous. I would love a huge big rug for the lounge room – below are just four of my top ten.

Big changes are coming!

18 08 2008

Big changes are on the horizon - I will be moving out of my lovely girly 2 bedroom terrace that I shared with my equally lovely friend and moving into co-habitation land. Eek! However it has been made less scary (decor-wise) as our new landlord (D’s current landlord) has given us a budget to give the apartment a bit of an overhaul. Yipee! The budget is small but we will be putting in new wood flooring in the lounge, hall and kitchen, a new kitchen and painting the whole apartment! Now all I have to do – oh I mean we have to do is stick to the budget. WE (I am learning) have decided white for all the walls – I know its safe but white paint is way cheaper and I think the money is better spent on good quality flooring and the kitchen. Colour will be introduced through furniture, decor and art. We will be doing most of the work ourselves so I will keep you up to date with the progress. Now the floors – I think we are heading for a solid wood in walnut but ‘we’ have a tendency to change our minds from time to time (day to day).

Rubber flooring?

7 07 2008

I was visiting a friend a couple of weeks back who had just moved into her new apartment and its very stylish. Anyway she mentioned that she wanted to replace the current flooring in the kitchen with red rubber. I thought wow! as rubber never really enters my head when it comes to flooring.  This has all changed – its brilliant and comes in loads of bright colours. Also if you tend to be a little on the clumsy side this might be a good solution. Here are some pics from the Rubber Floor Store.
